NCRLA Chef Showdown 2018!

We are thrilled and honored to have our Executive Chef, Joseph Heskin competing on Tuesday, May 22 for the North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association Chef of the Year! Chef Heskin brings his passion for seasonal and local ingredients to the Oceanic since he joined our culinary team at the end of 2017.
The NCRLA Chef Showdown is a culinary competition where Savory chefs, pastry chefs, distilleries and their mixologists from across the state come together and compete for the coveted titles of NCRLA Chef of the Year, NCRLA Pastry Chef of the Year and NCRLA Mixologist of the Year. The event is sponsored by Got to be NC, and has a strong focus on use of local North Carolina ingredients from produce to proteins, showcasing our local farmers and producers.

Competitors will be judged on the presentation and taste of their dish, creativity and the best use of North Carolina ingredients. Professional judges will determine the NCRLA Chef of the Year, NCRLA Pastry Chef of the Year and NCRLA Mixologist of the Year, while attendees will select the People’s Choice Award recipients and more!
