Oceanic Chef in Showdown

The regional semi-final competitions for the North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association (NCRLA) Chef Showdown have concluded and the results are in!
Oceanic Chef, Joseph Heskin will be one of 21 talented NC chefs advancing to the final round of the NCRLA Chef Showdown competition to compete for the title of NCRLA Savory Chef of the Year! This will be the third annual NCRLA Chef Showdown and will take place at Founders Hall in the Bank of America Center in Uptown Charlotte, NC on August 27th.
Chef Heskin was selected to compete in the final round after his culinary presentation impressed the judges in the semi-regional competition to New Bern, NC.

Local Snowy Grouper Panzanella
Snowy Grouper, Patty Pan Squash, Pink Oyster Mushrooms, Spring Onions, Sweet Potato Gnocchi, Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes, Micro Greens
The dish included ingredients from several local farms and fisheries, including:
Greenville Loop Seafood- Snowy Grouper, caught 70 Miles off the coast of Wilmington.

The NCRLA Chef Showdown is a prestigious culinary competition bringing together savory chefs, pastry chefs, distilleries and their mixologists from across the state of North Carolina to create dishes featuring North Carolina ingredients from produce to proteins, showcasing our local farmers and producers. Chef dishes will be judged on the presentation and taste, creativity and the best use of North Carolina ingredients. Attendees of the final Charlotte event will select the People’s Choice Award recipients, with the ability to taste every dish prepared by the 21 chefs!
