Waves of New Menu Options

There are waves of new menu options at the Oceanic.

There are many reasons the Oceanic is the must-visit restaurant in Wrightsville Beach. Let’s start with our food. With our variety of classic and contemporary coastal-inspired dishes, we have a little something for everyone.

Then there’s our bar. Let’s face it, when you’re at the beach, you more than likely crave an adult beverage, and the “O” delivers, with a wide variety of beach cocktails, wine selections, and craft beers. And this spring, we’ve took it up a notch with a variety of inventive cocktails, new wine selections and a strong focus on local beers!

Another reason people flock to the Oceanic is the restaurant’s panoramic views and historic Crystal pier. No matter where you are in the restaurant, you’ll have some spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and Coast. The Crystal pier is also the only wooden pier for miles around, and best of all, is partially covered, allowing guests to partake in al fresco dining every day of the week.

Bring on the flavor!

We have just revealed our new menu which has a plethora of tasty additions for our Oceanic guests. With the new take and cooking styles of our Executive Chef, Joe Heskin, who started with the Oceanic only a few months ago, we’ve introduced some exceptional dishes. Chef Heskin brings his experience from working at Michelin-starred and fine-dining restaurants in New York City and Denver and passion for seasonal ingredients to invent dishes that are not only colorful but bursting with flavor. You won’t disagree that these dishes are Instagram-worthy. He has been working with many area farmers for an enhanced selection of fresh-from-the-farm fruits and vegetables, pork, beef, chicken, and eggs.

“For the spring and summer menu, we will be using colorful seasonal ingredients, sourced locally,” says Chef. “That means more fresh fish, vegetables, and proteins from area fisheries and farms. We want people to be able to enjoy great seasonal food—and seasonal drinks, too!“

Chef Heskin understands that diners love fresh seafood, so he’ll be sourcing different fish throughout the season. For example, the summer months are perfect for Grouper, Mahi-Mahi, Snapper and Triggerfish, while autumn brings peak catches of Blue Crab, Mackerel, and Shrimp. But all 12 months are packed with flavorful fish in North Carolina, so you’ll always have delicious options.

The point is, you’ll just need to visit and check out our new menu for yourself.

Start with appetizers, like our new lobster and shrimp sliders, served with fines herbes and lemon on King’s Hawaiian rolls. Yum!

Oceanic Seared Scallops

Dinner offers creative new options as well, like a Cajun-inspired take on Shrimp and Grits. This year you can also opt for Brick Roasted Chicken with roasted corn succotash and oyster mushrooms, and Seared Scallops with roasted cauliflower confetti in lemon brown butter.

And what could be better than Sunday Brunch at the Oceanic? You’ll discover new offerings here, too, like the Oceanic Benny. Think classic eggs Benedict, but even tastier, because it’s topped with crabmeat.

Step up to the bar and try something completely new.

What makes the perfect Bloody Mary? You decide at our Build-Your-Own-Bloody-Mary pier bar. Yes, you build it, by choosing from a variety of vodka brands, the specific Bloody Mary mix you prefer, and the amount of horseradish/pepperoncini/celery/olives/pickled okra/etc. you like. Then, just for fun, top it all off with some shrimp cocktail or candied bacon. We’re betting you’ll go back for seconds, so you can try yet another combination.

If Bloody Marys aren’t your thing, we also have a new Champagne Bar. Select from a variety of fresh pureed fruits to create a Mimosa or Bellini. If you get truly inventive, you can make up your own drink and name it after yourself!

Of course, if you prefer to have someone do the heavy lifting for you, just choose one of our signature cocktails, like the O’MG with light rum, dark rum, pineapple, papaya and coconut, blended and served frozen (now there’s some island inspiration for you). Or for something completely different, we recommend The Bonfire, with bourbon, Fireball, hard cider, cranberry juice, and pop rocks. That’s right, pop rocks! It’s like your own personal  4th of July celebration in a glass.

2018 is going to be awesome, with even more exciting news we can’t wait to share! If you want to know more about what’s new and upcoming at the Oceanic, sign up on our email list.
